A slip from "Desperate Housewives" putting down unnamed medical schools in the Philippines drew so much flak from pinoy med practitioners all over the globe. So they got an apology. The ones with the thickest skins want more. Haven't they cheated in the Nursing Board exam sometime ago. The politicians play into the squabble. They defend the medical profession. That's alright. The first gent was brought back to life just months ago by local heart surgeons. Still, we are viewed as cheaters no matter how good we are in any field. Why? Well, it's IT damnit, no less than powerful people are seen in print, paper or electronic, cleaning up the mess they placed the country into. Therefore, all other ordinary people, the doctors, the nurses, the actors, the bureaucrats, etc., are fair game. The slur may not be proper but just thinking of the power of global information network, it becomes moot. If we're not cheaters, whether we react or not on such soap's attention getting blabs, we remain what we are. If we are cheaters really, the whole world would know. It just comes slowly. It follows due process. Let's get mad or turn our wrath then to those who make our country into a land of cheats and thieves.
